Bark in the Park 2012

FREQUENTLY “ARFED” QUESTIONS

May I bring my dog(s)?
Of course! Bark in the Park is the largest dog walk and festival in the Midwest! There will be tons of activities for you and your best canine friends to enjoy. Pooches of all shapes and sizes are free and do not have to register. We do ask that responsible pet owners bring no more than 2 dogs per person and that all of your dog’s vaccinations are up-to-date. And please, no retractable leashes.

Do I have to bring a dog?
No furry friend? No problem! Join us for a beautiful walk and a day of Country Fair fun and all for a great cause!

Where is Cricket Field in Forest Park?
Cricket Field is just east of the Muny Circle and the Visitor’s Center Parking Lot. The most convenient entrance to use is off of Lindell at the History Museum. We will have plenty of signage throughout the park to direct you to Cricket Field.

Map my trip!
(Use Grand Drive & Cricket Drive, St. Louis MO 63112 as your destination address)

Where should I Park?
Plenty of FREE parking is available near Cricket Field – at the Forest Park Visitor’s Center Lot, on the street and at the Upper Muny Lot.

How much does it cost to attend Bark in the Park 2012?
The minimum requested donation is $25 for adults and $5 for children 15 and under (little ones 3 and under are FREE!). This includes an official Bark in the Park t-shirt. Dogs are welcome and FREE, too!

What will my donation be used for?
All of the proceeds from Bark in the Park go to the Humane Society of Missouri’s Animal Cruelty Fund, dedicated to investigating, healing and preventing animal abuse.

Do I have to raise pledges to attend Bark in the Park?
Raising money above and beyond the requested registration fee means more money for the animals, AND you can earn great prizes! However, raising pledges is not a requirement to attend the event.

Do I have to be on a team to attend Bark in the Park?
All animal lovers are welcome at Bark in the Park whether you’re registered as an individual or as part of a team. Families do not have to form teams to attend. However, if you do decide to gather your family and friends together to form an official team, you’re eligible for even more great fundraising prizes! Click here for details about prizes.

If I’m on a team, can I still earn individual prizes for my fundraising efforts?
Yes, any money you raise will be kept in your individual record so you can earn prizes at an individual fundraising level. The money you raised will also be credited toward your team’s total. So, you’re eligible for team prizes, too!

I have received cash and check donations. May I turn this money in to the Humane Society now and have the amount(s) reflected on my Personal Bark Page and fundraising total?
Yes, you may send in these donations in as you receive them. Please be sure to include your name as the “sponsored walker” and/or your team name so that we are able to credit it to the correct participant or team.  Send donations to the Humane Society of Missouri Attn: Bark in the Park, 1201 Macklind Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110. To have donated money reflected on your personal page prior to the event, please turn in your money by Monday, May 14.

How do my friends and family make donations in my name (or my team’s name) online?
It’s easy! Just send them to www.hsmo.org/bark and have them click on the Sponsor A Friend link. They can then search for your name and make a secure donation online that, once processed, will be reflected in your individual total (Mastercard, Visa, Am Ex or Discover are accepted).

If someone supports me for $25 are they also considered team members?
No, they are not. In order to be considered a team member they have to register to join the team and the $25 is credited to them as an individual and to the team goal as a whole.

Do I have to register in advance?

You are welcome to register on-site at Cricket Field in Forest Park on Saturday, May 19, 2012. We strongly encourage you to register in advance to shorten your waiting time.

How long is the dog walk?
The Walk for Animals begins at 11 a.m. and is approximately one mile long. The path begins and ends at Cricket Field.

What should my dog bring on the day of the event?
You and your dog should come prepared with a NON-retractable leash and doggie clean-up bags. We’ll provide the doggie water and treats! NOTE: all dogs in attendance should be up-to-date on all of their vaccinations.

My new puppy would love to attend Bark in the Park, is that OK?
We recommended that puppies younger than six months wait a year to attend Bark in the Park. The stress of the event and the company of so many other dogs may be too much for your little guy or gal. All dogs who attend are required to have all of their shots up-to-date.

What payment methods can I use for the Country Fair food and goodies?
We will accept cash, checks, debit and credit cards for all purchases at Bark in the Park.

Do I have to participate in the walk to attend the Country Fair Festival?
The Country Fair Festival will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You’re welcome to skip the walk at 11 a.m. and just enjoy the festivities. We encourage you register for Bark in the Park so you can take full advantage of everything we have to offer and you will be helping abused and neglected animals!

Really Rain OR Shine?
Yes, even if it’s raining cats and dogs we’ll still be at Cricket Field on May 19, 2012. All event activities will be under tents.  So, come and enjoy all of the DOG-GONE fun even if it’s a little wet!

What will there be to do at Bark in the Park 2012?
In addition to the Walk for Animals, our Country Fair Festival will offer everything from live bluegrass bands to pet contests and a kids activity area with inflatables and take-home items. We’ll have country fair food, great Missouri vendors and much more fun.
